The Professional Standards for BC Educators is a code of ethics for teachers to follow that outlines what they should be aiming for each day. They show the commitment of the profession to continue to grow and adapt to changes it is faced with. It also shows the aim for educators to pursue truth and reconciliation, particularly with standard number 9. Educators have roles and responsibilities to the community and its students, and these standards outline ways to uphold these. All of these standards can be looked at not only in the context of the classroom but in the greater community as well.
